Taj Hotels on Management Contract to extend business in Goa

Panaji, Oct 19 (UNI) As part of its domestic expansion strategy, Taj Hotels, Resorts and Palaces has entered into a management contract with Kamat Construction and Resorts Pvt Ltd, an associate company of Kamat Group, for a new hotel under development on the capital here.

Situated in the vicinity of Kala Academy on a 2-acre plot at the intersection of Dr Braganza Pereira Road and S V Dempo Road, the proposed hotel will be operated under the Taj Business Hotels brand.

The complex with 154 rooms and suites will be unveiled by the end of 2007, providing guests with all modern facilities and services, according to Mr Jamshed Daboo, Chief Operating Officer, Taj Business Hotels here today.

About 25 minutes away from the Dabolim International Airport and within convenient distance from the key industrial estates, the hotel will also offer a 24-hour coffee shop, a speciality restaurant and bar 5,500 sq ft of banqueting and meeting facilities, state-of-the-art fitness centre and a swimming pool.

''At the Taj Business hotels, our objective is to be present in geographies/cities which will benefit today's business traveler.

A key aspect of this strategy is to also have a presence in the non-metros.To this end, we are rapidly expanding our network across the country,'' he said.

Goa, he said, has been taking various initiatives to accelerate the growth of various industries and also promote it as a conference destination. Panaji city with key government establishments, corporate offices of local banks, travel companies and proximity to high-end residential areas of Dona Paula, presents an excellent opportunity for setting up a new age business hotel, he said.

Kamat Construction and Resorts Pvt Ltd (KCRPL) Established in 1967 had developed over 50 housing and commercial complexes in Goa.

The Kamat group has also diversified into hospitality industry and owns two 3-star category hotels, one at Panaji and the other at Calangute.

The main objective of KCRPL is to carry-on or undertake the business of owning, managing, running or otherwise providing hospitality services by setting up hotels, resorts, motels, serviced apartments, time-share complexes, convention centers, restaurants, coffee houses, bar, snack parlours, etc.
