Motorola unveils new range of handsets for festive season
New Delhi, Oct 19 (UNI) Calling on the potential demand during the peaking festival season, world's second largest mobile phone company Motorola today launched three handsets in India ''Targeting people in the 16-45 age group, we are confident that the our new range with latest design and functions, will suit the Indian consumers' needs,'' Motorola Corporate Vice President Allen Burnes told reporters here.
He added that the latest range consisting of MotoKRZR, MotoMing and MotoFlip, will meet the diverse needs of Indian consumers while allowing them to express their own sense of personal style.
Mr Burnes said that the company will introduce some more exciting and attracting slider phones in the beginning of the next year, adding that MotoRIZR, MotoFone, MotoRAZR V3xx, MotoRAZR maxx V6, Motorola H670, H800 are expected to hit the Indian market by March, 2007.
The new offerings will be priced at over Rs 20,000, exclusive of the cost of portable charger of Rs 2,300.
Priced at Rs 17,490, MotoMing is available in three colours-- white, blue and red-- with wireless stereo Bluetooth, a two-megapixel camera, and a 512 MB memory card with proloaded multimedia.
MotoKRZR available at Rs 16,990, has a high resolution 20.
megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth headset, and an expandable memory up to 1 GB, apart from other features.
Catering to demand emanating from the middle class, the company also introduced W220, at a cost of Rs 3990, with a built-in stereo FM radio, up to 600 entry phone book and 250 SMS storage capacity.
Company's Marketing Director (India) Lloyd Mathias said that Motorola will set up its own manufacturing unit at Sriperumbudur near Chennai with an investment of 100 million dollars by the end of next year.
Presently, the company has its software centres at Bangalore and Hyderabad with over 3,500 employees, Mr Mathias said, adding that about 40 per cent of the total software used in Motorola phones worldwide is designed in these two centres.
