Mills offer sugar at ex-factory price to Delhi Govt: ISMA

New Delhi, Oct 19 (UNI) Taking note of the higher prices at retail level in Delhi, sugar millers have offered to the Delhi Government and the Kendriya Bhandars as well as other buyers to purchase sugar from nominated mills at ex-factory prices.

Mr S L Jain, Director General, Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA) said in a statement here today that sugar prices at the retail level in Delhi continue to rule at unjustly higher levels of Rs 21 a kg and above.

In order to ensure availability of sugar to the consumers at prices not beyond Rs 20 a kg in retail, the Association has offered to make available the commodity at corresponding ex-factory price from the nominated mills, he said.

Mr Jain said if the Delhi Government and Kendriya Bhandars buy sugar from such mills the delivered price in Delhi would not exceed Rs 18.75 a kg, then such sugar could easily be sold to the consumers in the retail at a price not exceeding Rs 20 a kg.
