HC asks Govt Hospitals to reserve 20 beds for burn patients
New Delhi, Oct 19 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today directed the authorities to reserve at least 20 beds for a week in each of the government hospitals in the capital to admit burn patients during Diwali fistival.
While asking the hospitals to meet any eventualities, a division bench of Justices Mukundakam Sharma and Hima Kohli asked the Commissioner of Police to depute a Sub-Inspector each in these hospitals to record the statements of the burn patients, if needed.
The court asked the Head of the Departments (HoD) of all these hospitals to keep themselves available in the hospitals 24 hours on the Diwali day and the patients should be treated without registering a case with the police.
The Judges directed the director of the LNJP Hospital V K Ramtek to file an affidavit why a show cause notice should not be served to him for filing a wrong affidavit stating that the hospital was best equipped to treat the burn patients.
Dr Ramtek stated in his affidavit that the hospital was in best condition and did not require anything from the government for the burns unit.
''But on inquiry, we found even there is no ventilator and an anaesthetist in the burns unit of the hospital,'' said the Judges in a an order.
''We are sorry to note that the doctor is trying to paint a rosy picture,'' said the Judges.
