APFFU urges state govt to provide Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia

Visakhapatnam, Oct 19 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Fishermen and Fishworkers Union (APFFU) state Secretary L Balakrishna today urged the state government to provide Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia for fishermen who died in mishaps and demanded to provide security for their profession and lives.

Talking to mediapersons here, he sought hike of accidental insurance to Rs 2 lakh from the present Rs 50,000, which was being implemented under the group insurance scheme.

The Union would stage a dharna at the Collectorates here on November 21 as part of its state-wide agitation, he added.
