White Card scheme a success story of rural Haryana
Chandigarh, Oct 17 (UNI) The 'White Card Scheme', of the Haryana government is gradually becoming popular and so far it had disbursed loans worth Rs 12.26 crore out of Rs 24 crore to 2574 beneficiaries for the purchase of 4039 milch cattle.
A spokesman of the Haryana Dairy Development Co-operative Federation today said under this scheme White Cards are issued to those cattle breeders who have been supplying milk regularly to the Milk Cooperative Societies for the past three years. Such card holders could take loan of upto Rs one lakh from banks for purchasing milch cattle without giving any guarantee. An interest of eight per cent would be charged on such loans.
He said the government had implemented another scheme for providing 24-hour veterinary services to the cattle breeders. As a part of this scheme, health of the cattle would be regularly examined and emergency medical services will also be provided to cattle breeders.
Besides this, the government had also implemented 'Pashu Dhan Beema Yojna' in five districts of Bhiwani, Jind, Hisar, Rohtak and Jhajjar. As per this scheme, 25 per cent of the insurance installment would be borne by the beneficiary and the remaining 75 per cent will be paid by the government. This scheme would now be implemented in other areas of the state where Women Dairy Co-operative Societies are active.
