Vaiko says bypoll victory a win for money, muscle power

Chennai, Oct 17 (UNI) Marumalarchi DMK General Secretary Vaiko today described the DMK victory in the Madurai Central bye-elections as a ''victory for money and muscle power.'' In a statement here tonight, Mr Vaiko claimed the Election Commission norms were thrown to the winds.

Alleging the DMK Chief M Karunanidhi's son and several Ministers were not only involved in distributing money to the voters but also in intimidating them, he said when the AIADMK volunteers who caught the DMK cadre involved in buying the voters and handed them over to the police, the men in uniform not only beat them but also slapped false cases on the complainants, he charged.

Even AIADMK Candidate Rajan Chellappa and his men were not spared as the police registered cases against them, he said.
