TV serial to highlight evils of female foeticide

Jalandhar, Oct 17 (UNI) A TV serial will highlight the evils of female foeticide and problems of sex ratio imbalance with special reference to Punjab, noted film actress and former MP Shabana Azami said here today.

Speaking at a function here today Ms Azami, who is also the chairperson of Punjab State Advisory Committee for implementation of PNDT Act meant for curbing the practice of female foeticide, said the decision to this effect has been taken in the committee's meeting held here today.

State Health Minister Surinder Singla was also present in the meeting.

The serial would create social awareness among the people by projecting the menace and its fallouts, she added.

The serial would not be a mere documentary but would address the issue and situation in a live and effective manner, she added.

Messages of celebrites against the menace also be relayed during the serial.

She would also be contributing in the task as per the need of the serial, Ms Azami said.
