SP is anti-farmer: CPI(M)
Lucknow, Oct 17 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (Marxist) today slammed the Samajwadi Party-led Uttar Pradesh government for its ''anti-farmer policies''.
On the last day of the CPI(M) state committee meet here, a political report was presented, which said the situation of law and order in the state was ''dismal'' and people lacked basic amenities including water and electricity. Privatisation had worsened the condition of farmers and workers, it said.
Privatising Unpara C and Cement Nigam would make the situation worse, Party General Secretary Prakash Karat added.
Mr Karat alleged UP Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav was only busy in the distribution of unemployment allowance and Kanya Vidhyadhan, and was least bothered about the problems of other sections of the society.
''UP is plagued by crime, unemployment and poverty and there is insecurity in the minds of the people.'' He criticised the Chief Minister for his government's ''pro-rich policies'' and said for the purpose of developing Special Economic Zone (SEZ), and hi-tech city at various places, agricultural land were sold to big industrialists and the farmers were not compensated.
