Security Printing Press declared public utility service
New Delhi, Oct 17 (UNI) The Security Printing Press, Hyderabad will continue as a public utility service for six more years from today, the government said putting conditions on employees going on strike.
The press has been declared a public utility service under the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, the Ministry of Labour and Employment said.
The Ministry has already issued a notification, it added.
The employees, as a result, will be required to give notice to their employer six weeks before going on strike so that conciliatory proceedings can be started, the Ministry said.
During the concilitory talks and seven days after their completion, the employees can't now go on strike.
Established in 1982 in the Nizam's Mint Compound now called the India Government Mint, the press prints postal stationery, central excise stamps, non-judicial stamps, court fee stamps and Indian Postal Orders for central and state governments.
