Laxmi Gopakumar moves Kerala HC for quashing judicial inquiry

Kochi, Oct 17 (UNI) Chennai-based TV-anchor Laxmi Gopakumar today moved the Kerala High Court to quash the state government order instituting a judicial inquiry into her allegation of harassment against former Kerala Public Works Minister P J Joseph.

Ms Gopakumar contended that the state government already had the report of IGP B Sandhya, who inquired into her complaint that Mr Joseph had misbehaved with her while on a flight from Chennai to Kochi in August.

There was no need for the Kerala Government to conduct any futher inquiry, she contended.

Ms Gopakumar also contended that the place where the offence was allegedly committed was outside Kerala.

The petition will come up for hearing tomorrow before a Division Bench consisting of Chief Justice V K Bali and Justice P R Raman.

The Bench had yesterday dismissed as withdrawn a petition filed by Mahila Congress All India Secretary Simi Rosebell John seeking a direction to the state to register a case against Mr Jospeh.

This followed a submission by Advocate General C P Sudhakara Prasad that the Tamil Nadu police had already registered a case regarding a complaint made by Ms Gopakumar.
