Karnataka to set up Special Economic Zones in Bidar and Gulbarga
Gulbarga, Oct 17 (UNI) The Karnataka Government proposes to set up Special Economic Zones in Bidar and Gulbarga to boost industrial development in the backward Hyderabad-Karnataka Region, Minister for Small Scale Industries Katta Subramanya Naidu said today.
Talking to newsmen here, he said that the Rs 100 crore would be spent every year for a period of five years for developing infrastructure needed for setting up industries in the State.
Mr Naidu said that the State government had decided to waive the loans of 10,000 Small Scale Industries, involving Rs 110 Crore, as one-time settlement.
He said that the Glbarga-Bangalore Highway would be developed as Six lane with an estimated cost of Rs 22,000 crore.
Reiterating the Government's committment to make the State a industrially developed one, he said that a meeting of industrialists will be held in Bangalore on October 26 to discuss setting up of more industries in the State.
Taking strong exception to SSIs violating the rules and misusing land allotted, Mr Naidu said that 18 cases had been booked on SSIs for misusing the land.
