Indians promise to be Thaworn's thorn-in-flesh in Indian Open
New Delhi, Oct 17 (UNI) Thaworn Wiratchant plans to repeat his tried and tested formula that earned him the title last year but with the Indian troika of Gaurav Ghei, Jyoti Randhawa and Shiv Kapur promising to make life difficult for the Thai stalwart, this week's Hero Honda India Open promises to be a thrilling prospect at the Delhi Golf Club.
''My plan would remain the same as last year. The course looks wet and I guess whoever uses the long-iron well, will come out with flying colours,'' the Thai golfer told mediapersons through an interpreter.
''I'm happy with my form this season so far but I'm not a superman who would go out and beat others all the time. The conditions are good here but I feel it would be more difficult for me this year,'' he said, adding he would be happy to finish with a 10-under par score.
The Thai described ninth, 13th and 16th as the toughest holes in the course.
''The ninth is a very long hole, while 13th is across the wind and then the 16th is a dog's leg,'' he explained.
Shiv Kapur, playing in his home course, is satisfied with the course and said he would tee off day after tomorrow, armed with whatevever he has learnt from his European Tour experience.
''It's my own course and it was great to see the greens rolling beautifully. I don't think I have seen it in a better shape.
''For me, I have seen peaks and drops this season. I started off well, had mid-season slump before I bounced back. I got to play in Europe and it was a great learning experience,'' he explained.
His senior colleague Randhawa said like any other golfer, or player for that matter, he was trying to play four consistent round of golf and that's not as easy as it sounds.
''I have not been consistent over four rounds and I think I'll have to focus harder. My swing is alright but I think I have to better it. I learnt a lot from my first year in the European Tour and playing amid rain and wind -- it was a great experience.
''I returned my best score and yet founds someone bettering even that, it was just not enough. I found my shots were as good as anyone there but there misses were better and that's an area I have to work on,'' he added.
