Dalmiya asked to appear before disciplinary committee on Oct 29
Mumbai, Oct 17 (UNI) A disciplinary committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has summoned former president Jagmohan Dalmiya to appear before it at Mohali on October 29 regarding the misappropriation of PILCOM funds.
BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah said today that Dalmiya had been sent summons earlier before he went to the court.
Dalmiya was suspended on April 9 from attending all meetings including the annual general meeting after being alleged to have misappropriated Rs 2,174 million from the organising committee of the 1996 World Cup, PILCOM, comprising representatives of the event's joint hosts - India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Shah also said the BCCI was yet to get any communication from the International Cricket Council (ICC) over its reported displeasure over invitation to ban former captain Mohd Azharuddin to attend the function on November 4 to inaugurate the Board's new headquarters.
''I am only reading (ICC's CEO Malcolm) Speed's statements in the papers. We have not received anything from the ICC,'' Shah said.
Azhar was banned for life by the BCCI for his alleged role in the match-fixing scandal that rocked the cricket world six years ago.
