Bhushan Steel to set up steel and power plants in Bengal
Kolkata, Oct 17 (UNI) Bhushan Steel and Scrips Limited will set up a two-million ton steel plant and a 1,000-MW power plant at Kharagpur in West Bengal.
Announcing this after a meeting with Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, Bhushan Steel Chairman Brij Bhushan Singhal said a total of Rs 1,000 crore would be invested in phases for the projects. The initial investment would be Rs 4,000 crore.
Mr Singhal, who had already selected the site, said the requirement for the projects would be 4,000 acre.
Observing that land would not be a problem for the Bhushan Steel's projects, the Chief Minister later told reporters that it would be non-agricultural land.
