Shoaib Akhtar, Mohd Asif test positive for banned drugs
Jaipur, Oct 16 (UNI) Champions Trophy was rocked today with the startling revelation that Pakistan fast bowlers Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif were tested positive for taking performance-enhancing drugs.
A Pakistan team official told UNI that the duo were tested positive in an internal tests conducted by the PCB before the players left for the tournament and they would be sent back home.
''We had sent the samples to Sydney and Kaula Lumpur for testing and it turned out that Shoaib and Asif failed the dope tests,'' he said.
The official said a formal announcement will be made after an urgent Board meeting which is underway here.
