Randhawa breathes down Jeev's neck, just 3 rungs behind in rankings
New Delhi, Oct 16 (UNI) Just three steps behind compatriot and world number 143 Jeev Milkha Singh, Jyoti Randhawa will tee off in the Indian Open here this week hoping to regain the highest ranked Indian golfer's status at the Delhi Golf Club.
Jyoti, the 2002 Asian Tour Order of Merit winner, is ranked 146th in the latest Official World Golf Ranking with 1.19 average points against his name, while Jeev (1.21), who finished tied 21st in Japan Open yesterday, remains country's highest ranked player at 143.
Talented Shiv Kapur (.92), a vital cog in the nascent Professional Golf Tour of India and another star attraction at his home course at the Delhi Golf Club this week, is placed 190th, while Orlando-based Arjun Atwal (.79), currently struggling to retain his PGA Tour card, is placed 217th.
At the top of the table, Tiger Woods has a 14.19 average point lead over Jim Furyk, who holds the number two spot.
Troy Matteson, who picked up his first victory on the PGA Tour at the Frys.com Open, jumped 180 places in the ladder to 142nd, according to information received here today.
