New party to take up arms in support of Nepal King
Kathmandu, Oct 16 (UNI) The Nepal Janatantrik Party, a party in its infancy in Nepal politics so far, has said it will launch an armed struggle in support of the king from the far west, media reports said here today.
A letter issued this morning by the party to journalists here stated that a 'sabotage programme' will be launched from mid-December to mid-February in support of the king, The Himalayan Times reported.
Party members visited journalists in their offices and residences today to hand over CDs and copies of the letter which said they would embark on an armed struggle, it added.
''An armed struggle has been declared from the far west to show disagreement with the current political activities, in the context that all others except the seven political parties and Maoists are being treated badly,'' the paper quoted the letter as saying.
It also said the Nepal Janatantrik Party was formed on May 24 this year immediately after the success of the peoples' movement against the autocratic rule of the king.
Maoists have come to the negotiation table to resolve the problem of insurgency which claimed over 13,000 lives since 1996.
Most of the people in the party are not known in the national level politics, the newspaper further added.
