NDPS court defers hearing in drugs haul case till Oct 30
Mumbai, Oct 16 (UNI) A special NDPS court here today deferred the hearing in a Narcotics, Drugs and Psychotrophic Substances Act case till October 30 following the shooting incident this afternoon, in which two of the accused were shot at near the court building.
Special NDPS Judge S P Kulkarni was to hear the cross examination of the two accused - Amjad Khan and Himanshu Choudhary, who were shot at in front of the Esplanade Mansion building near the Sessions court premises.
Immediately they were taken to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared them dead before admission.
NDPS sleuths in a raid conducted at Anthony Compound in suburban Juhu in 2000 had seized 180 kg of Mandrax drugs and arrested five persons, including the two victims, in this connection.
However, the duo had earlier secured bail in this case from the special court. They were on the way to the court to attend the hearing of the case, when some unidentified persons shot at them.
