Mizoram bags NE team championship title in Taekwondo

Aizawl, Oct 16 (UNI) The team from Mizoram won the first NE sub-junior Taekwondo championship, which concluded here today at Champhai district.

Altogether, Mizoram won 11 gold, six silver and three bronze medals in various categories.

Manipur was the runners-up teams bagging seven gold, six silver and six bronze medals while Asom came third with one gold, five silver and 15 bronze medals.

Sikkim came last with one gold, three silver and 16 bronze among other NE states.

A total of 80 sports persons from across the NE region participated in the 10 weight categories.

Asom was selected as the team with the best fighting spirit while Sikkim received the title of the most promising team.
