Many pol parties in J
Srinagar, Oct 16 (UNI) Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Mehbooba Mufti has said various political parties in Jammu and Kashmir were frustrated and had ganged up against her party on realising that an ''era of exploitative and slogan-based politics in the state was nearing its death''.
Addressing a convention of PDP workers and leaders here, she said it was surprising to note that statements of the BJP, the National Conference and other political parties have the same tone and language when it came to her party and its self-rule proposal.
''These political parties have started feeling the public heat.
Unlike these which thrive on slogans, the self-rule proposal is an article of faith for the PDP,'' Ms Mufti added.
She said the most viable, acceptable and ultimate resolution of the Kashmir issue lay in the party's self-rule formula.
The PDP president said it was heartening to note that during her recent statewide tour, she found that people in every region and from every religion sew a ray of hope for peace and prosperity in the self-rule proposal.
''Today, when the PDP has set out with an agenda for the final settlement of the Kashmir issue through its self-rule formula, the people in all the regions have once again reposed their trust and faith in it as they know this is the only party that will, with great sincerity, pull the state out of the morass and make them prosper,'' she added.
The PDP chief said going from door to door to educate the people about the formula as an evolutionary process for the resolution of Kashmir issue had started.
The PDP had launched this programme not only in the state, but in the country and the sub-continent as well to evolve a consensus over a peaceful and final settlement of the Kashmir issue, she added.
