JSM submits phone call records of ministers to Nanavati Commission
Ahmedabad, Oct 16 (UNI) Jan Sangarsh Manch (JSM), a non governmental organisation, today submitted to the Nanavati Commission ''crucial data'' regarding mobile calls made by high-placed administrative officers and ministers, and even Chief Minister Narendra Modi, during the post-Godhra communal riots in March, 2002.
The data mainly consist of print-outs of telephonic conversations by 37 persons, JSM counsel Adv Mukul Sinha told UNI.
Apart from Mr Modi, the data includes conversations of some ministers in the BJP Government including Ashok Bhatt, Gordhan Zadafia and I K Jadeja. It also includes telephones made to or by Gujarat VHP leaders, including its international secretary Pravin Togadia and state secretary Jaideep Patel.
Adv Sinha said the telephonic conversations relate to February 27 and February 28, 2002.
The source of data are two compact discs, submitted to the Commission by the former Superintendent of Police Rahul Sharma, who is now with Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), in October 2004.
''We have also submitted an analysis of calls made by a top police official Mr Gondiya, who was the DCP of Zone-4 in Ahmedabad city on February 28, 2002, in a sealed cover to the Commission along with print-outs,'' Adv Sinha said.
The CDs contained records of mobile phone calls made and received by top politicians, government officials and police officers during the March 2002 riots that broke out soon after the Godhra incident.
