Jet Airways staffer arrested for jewellery theft over Rs 40 lakh
New Delhi, Oct 16 (UNI) The Delhi Police have arrested a staffer of the jet Airways for theft of gold ornaments valued at over Rs 40 lakh.
Santosh Prasad, a staffer of the Jet Airways security unit was arrested by the IGI airport unit of the Delhi police at Anand Vihar inter-state Bus terminus yesterday when he was trying to flee from Delhi with the stolen gold ornaments.
The arrest of Santosh came after Sandeep Arora, Manager, Cargo Operation at the Jet Airways, Palam Airport, lodged a complaint about the theft of a consignment containing over four kg Gold ornaments from the cargo unit on the intervening night of October 8 and 9.
Sustained interrogation of the cargo staff, security staff and contingent of loaders put the needle of suspicion on the accused whose activities were carefully monitored.
On receiving information that Santosh was planning to flee from Delhi, police teams were stationed at all possible exit routes such as railway station, bus stands and airport. Finally, the accused was nabbed at Anand Vihar bus stand yesterday and the stolen gold ornaments recovered from his possession.
