Government had delayed Bamsan-Mewa scheme, says Dhumal
Shimla, Oct 16 (UNI) Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister P K Dhumal today accused the state government of delaying the Bamsan-Mewa drinking water scheme by over four years, saying it should have been completed by now.
The previous government had completed 32 per cent of its work by 2002, while other works were continuing. Ever since the Congress Government took over power in 2003 it stalled the whole process, he said in a release here.
Mr Dhumal said the scheme, which should have been completed in three years, was left in a lurch for the last four years, proving the party's charge that the state government was discriminating with lower areas of the state as far as development works were concerned.
All formalities for the construction of the scheme had been completed during the tenure of the BJP government and the state government had only to give a guarantee to the funding agency, he said.
He said while seven other schemes were accorded guarantee by the state government, the guarantee to the Bamsan-Mewa scheme was withheld purposefully.
The former chief minister said the foundation scheme has been laid with a view on the assembly elections, which were only a year away.
