Goa sinks Bengal 2-0, Haryana holds Punjab to goalless draw

Gurgaon, Oct 16 (UNI) Holders Goa blanked West Bengal 2-0 while former champion Punjab was held to a goalless draw by hosts Haryana in contrasting Group A quarterfinal league matches of the 61st Santosh Trophy here today.

In a thrilling, fast-paced encounter, Peter Carvalho and Freddie Mascarenhas scored for Goa while in a dull and drab match, Haryana played a defensive game to snatch point from Punjab.

After today's matches, the group is now wide open with Punjab topping with four points and Goa and Bengal having three points each.

Bengal play Punjab, while Haryana meet Goa on Wednesday.
