10 candidates in fray in Vidisha, 22 in Malehra
Bhopal, Oct 16 (UNI) BJP nominee and state PHE Minister Rampal Singh and 9 others were left in the fray in Vidisha Lok Sabha and 22 candidates in Malehra Assembly constituencies in Madhya Pradesh as the time fixed for withdrawal of nominations for the byelections ended today.
Other candidates in Vidisha include : Mrs Rajshri Singh (Cong), Choudhary Munnawr Salim (Samajwadi Party), Raghunandan Sharma (Bhartiya Jan Shakti), Ajay Singh Kirar (Gondwana Gantantra Party), Abdul Jabbar, Gundesh Khamra, Gendalal, Maltibai and Santosh (all indpendents).
Four contestants Thakt Singh Raghuvanshi, Mrs Durgawati Uike, Mangali Prasad Ahirwar and Mrs Vandana Gaur (all independents) withdrew their papers today.
In Malehra constituency in Chhatarpur district, three contestants - Kallu Ahirwar, Digvijay Singh and Kapure (all Ind)-- withdrew nominations today leaving 22 in the fray.
Mr Kapoor Chand Ghuwara (BJP), Jagdish Shukla (Cong), Sukhlal Joshi(CPI), Surendra Singh Yadav (Samajwadi Party), Mahesh Chandra Kushwaha (Rashtriya Samanata Dal), Ms Rekha Yadav (BJS), and 16 independents-- Vinod Agrawal, Dashrath Ahirwar, Hariram Ahirwar, Alok Kumar Pappu Bhaiyya, Kriparam, Gokul, Jagdish, Jairam Yadav, Dwarka, Nassem Khan, Nirmal Singh, Prabodh Kumar, Manish Kumar, Mahesh Kumar, Ms Ramkali Yadav and Ashok Kumar Soni-- were in the fray.
Vidisha seat fell vacant due to the resignation by Mr Shivraj Singh Chouhan on his election to the Assembly after becoming Chief Minister in November last year. Malehra seat fell vacant as Ms Uma Bharti resigned on moral grounds following formation of BJS after her expulsion from BJP.
Counting of votes polled on October 30 will be counted on November 2.
