Talks between Nepal government and Maoists postponed
Kathmandu, Oct 15 (UNI) The Nepal government and Maoists postponed the second round of talks today without reaching an agreement especially on the issue of monarchy and management of arms.
The two sides agreed to postpone the talks to further discuss on the issue of monarchy and arms management, a senior leader of the seven party alliance said.
The Maoists are demanding the suspension of the monarchy until the election of constituent assembly agreed to be held by the end of June next year, while the seven parties alliance want the disarmament of the rebels.
The talks will be held soon after the discussion among the seven parties and the Maoists, leader of the Nepali Congress Arjun Narsingh K C said after the postpone of the talks.
The talks were held at Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala's official residence Baluwatar this afternoon where senior leaders of the seven parties and the leaders of the Maoists, including chairman Prachand were present.
The next round of talks will be held soon with mutual consultation, Mr Narsingh said.
