RSS chief gives Diwali call for social equity
Varanasi, Oct 15 (UNI) Hours after passing a resolution flaying the UPA government for failing to check religious conversion by Christian missionaries, RSS chief K C Sudarshan this evening, gave the call for ''social equity'' on Diwali to unite the Hindu society.
Addressing a 'Virat Hindu Sangam' here this evening, he said the real tribute to second RSS Sarsanghchalak Guru Golwalkar, during the ongoing year long celebrations to mark his birth centenary, will be the mantra of ''social equity.'' He further called upon upper caste Hindus to invite for lunch or dinner their brethern from ''so- called'' backward castes working as domestic helps on the festival of Diwali.
''Samajik Samarasta (social equity), for which Guru Golwalkar worked through out his life should be the mantra of every Hindu household this Diwali and the festivals to come after that,'' Mr Sudarshan added.
Earlier on the concluding day of its three-day national executive here today, the RSS maintained that it will the await court ruling on Ayodhya issue, likely in a month or two.
The Sangh also slammed UPA government at centre for ''closing its eyes'' on the growing religious conversion of Hindus by Christian missionaries.
The Sangh, in the two resolutions passed on the concluding day of its national executive, strongly supported the spirit of September 2006 resolution of Vishwa Hindu Parishad's Margdarshak Mandal on Ram Janambhumi Ayodhya issue, Sah Sar Karyawah Madan Das Devi told newspersons here.
''The process of evidence collection even through remote sensing and excavation in Ayodhya have been completed and the court could give its verdict on the national issue in a month or two,'' he maintained.
If the court ruling did not come in a month or two, the RSS would contemplate chalking out further strategies. The national executive is of the firm opinion that Hindu sentiments must be honoured and temple construction should begin at the earliest, he said.
Alleging that the pace of religious conversion of Hindus by Christian missionaries has grown steadily during the UPA government at the centre, Mr Devi said it is unfortunate that desired measures to check this ''menace have'' not been initited by the centre.
In another resolution, the RSS national executive considered the attempt to defile and bring the Hindu centers of veneration into controversy as a dangerous trait in national life, Mr Devi said.
Terming the temples as ''cultural centres'' to unify Hindu society, the Sangh alleged that the decorum of these was being violated and ''non-Indian'' religions were getting foothold for their proselytising activities, which was highly condemnable.
The RSS held the objectionable presentation of Hindu Gods and Goddesses, instigation against Hindu religious festivals, arrests and harassment of Hindu religious leaders as glaring examples of attacks, atrocities and insult meted out to Hindu society, Mr Devi maintained.
On the Tirumala Tirupati Balaji temple issue, the Sangh observed that the attack of Christian missionaries on it by means of proselytising activities and succumbing of government machinery to their machinations revealed the hollowness of political and bureaucratic system.
The RSS supports the protest of Hindu devotees of Balaji against these activities. Besides, it also sought autonomy for religious places and tradition and said that the acqisition of mutts and temples and government interference in pilgrimages should be stopped.
