BCCI sets up 4-member committee, says no threat to 2011 World Cup
Jaipur, Oct 15 (UNI) BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla today asserted that there was no threat to 2011 world Cup being hosted in the sub-continent, saying there was no question of India pulling out of it.
Talking to mediapersons here, Shukla said the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has set up a four-member committee which will hold discussions with the International Cricket Council (ICC) to amicably resolve the problems and matters concerning Members Participation Agreement (MPA).
The committee, comprising Arun Jaitely, I S Bindra, Lalit Modi and N Srinivasan, will thrash out all the outstanding issues including MPA with the ICC, he said.
Making light of the ongoing controversy regarding MPA, Shukla said he was confident that the matter between the BCCI and ICC will be settled.
''Everything will be resolved for sure, there is no threat to the 2011 World Cup. There is no question of India pulling out of it,'' he said.
Shukla disclosed that several BCCI members are in touch with the ICC.
''We have our channels opened with the ICC and we will further discuss the issue with ICC CEO Malcom Speed who has arrived here.'' The BCCI vice-president said not much should be read into the statements of Lalit Modi and I S Bindra.
''They have their point of view and they have a right to express them. They have raised some important issues and we will discuss them with the ICC.'' Shukla also talked about the discussion over clash of interests between the team sponsorship and the players' individual endorsement.
He said the BCCI will once again go through the contract with Nike and see that the players are not affected by it.
