On Board Air India One, Oct 14 (UNI) Expressing confidence that the Indo-US Nuclear deal, which is now awaiting the clearance of the US Congress, will get through, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said New Delhi enjoys the goodwill of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) as it was very much supportive of an exemption to be made for India in terms of nuclear fuel and technology support.

Talking to journalists aboard Air India One, on his way back from a six-day visit to the UK and Finland, the Prime Minister said, ''We have the assurance of the US government that they are very serious and will use their influence on the US Congress to see that the deal is through.'' ''As you know, the Indo-US nuclear deal is now with the US Congress, I always maintain that I do not have any control over the legislative process of that country, but I still feel that they are very serious and the deal will get through.

''As far as the NSG is concerned, we had held a discussion in Vienna with its members. There is growing support for the Indian case and countries like Russia, Britain and France have pledged support,'' he added.

The Prime Minister said there was a great appreciation from various countries over India's stance on zero tolerance for terrorism. Dr Singh, who held discussions with the European leaders and British Prime Minister Tony Blair, said he had conveyed India's concern over the increasing cases of cross-border terrorism and wanted them to put pressure on Pakistan to stop using its territory for fomenting terrorism.

Asked whether India is in a position to give evidence to Pakistan about its link in the recent Mumbai and Srinagar blasts, he said, ''We will give them the credible evidence. We feel that there is involvement of elements in Pakistan. We will test them once we have given them the proof.'' When his attention was drawn towards Pakistan's repeated denial of its involvement in the 7/11 Mumbai blasts, he said, ''What is the use of talking. Once we give evidence then only we can test them.

''Terror attacks cannot be justified by invoking the so-called key issues and no country should allow its territory be used to launch, aid and abet terrorist acts against India.

During discussions with Mr Blair and Finland Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen, the Prime Minister outlined the need and measures for jointly tackling terrorism.

The Prime Minister said during his talks with British and EU leaders, he underlined the need for taking measures to jointly tackle terrorism, coordination of intelligence, coordination of information and coordination of measures to stop funding to terrorist groups. This is an ongoing process and we are in close touch with other countries,'' he said. He was hopeful that there is a growing willingness on the part of world to work with India.

He said there was a wide appreciation of India's predicament. the world discovered terrorism after the 9/11 incident wheresas India had been witnessing it since 1989. Therefore, there is a strong support for India and its stance that countries should not allow their territories to be used for terrorist attacks in other country.

On India's chance to secure a permanent seat in the U N Security Council, the Prime Minister said if there is a growing support for the restrucuture of the UN, India must find a place in it. But he said, those who are in power do not want to shed it. Some powertful nations do not seem to have made up their mind. Therefore, we have a long way to go before efforts to restructure of the U N materialise, ''he said.
