North Korea ready to return to talks: Reports
Moscow, Oct 14: North Korea is ready to return to six-party talks on its nuclear programme, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Alexeyev was quoted by Itar-Tass as saying today in the North Korean capital Pyongyang.
North Korea ''wishes in the nearest future to settle through negotiations the problems connected with the denuclearisation of the Korean peninsular,'' Alexeyev told Itar-Tass in an interview.
Alexeyev said North Korea had indicated its support for six-party talks as a way to resolve the nuclear problem on the Korean peninsular, Tass reported.
Alexeyev had talks in Pyongyang with Kim Kye-gwan, North Korea's top negotiator at stalled six-party talks.
''The foundation of the consultations was the attempt to find a way out of the current crisis situation and find a way to revive the six-party talks,'' Alexeyev said, Tass reported.
The six-party talks which the United States, China, South Korea, Japan and Russia deal jointly with North Korea have been stalled for nearly a year.
