Mysore, Oct 14 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today called upon the police personnel not to buckle under pressure while discharging their duties.

Speaking after accepting the salute at a colourful passing out parade of the 31st batch of Sub-Inspectors at the Police Academy here, he admitted that the police generally came under political and other pressure in their daily routine. ''But do not yield to any pressure, work according to your conscience. We are with you.'' Mr Kumaraswamy emphasised that the police should uphold moral values and discharge their duty with a human face as they were entrusted with the sacred duty of protecting the interests of law abiding citizens, the poor and downtrodden sections of the society.

Police duty was more challenging these days as the social problems were becoming more complex, he noted.

Stating that the Police Academy was one among the best training centres in the country, he said 3,782 police officers have passed out from the institute. He assured all necessary benefits to the police force from the Government's side.

The Chief Minister asked the police department to submit a report on awarding 'Chief Minister's Sword' for the best performing trainee from the institute.

Later, he honoured Ms S Shivaratna from Bangalore, chosen as the best allround cadet. In all, 185 trainees, including 27 women, 45 post graduates, an MBBS degree holder, eight LLB graduates and a graduate in journalism, passed out.
