Two cops injured in assault in Anand

Anand, Gujarat, Oct 13 (UNI) Two policemen were injured in an attack by an armed person at Hardood village, about five km from here, this afternoon.

Police said Pravin Prajapati allegedly attacked two constables attached to a local police station, when they went to apprehend him at his residence.

When Prajapati spotted the police, he tried to escape but the constables gave a chase and nabbed him. However, the accused pulled out a sharp-edged knife and inflicted injuries on the chest of the two constables.

Prajapati was sought for questioning by the police in connection with a complaint of harassment lodged by his ex-paramour, with whom he was not on good terms since the past two months, police said.

The injured policemen have been admitted to a local civic hospital.

A case has been registered and further investigations are on, police added.
