3-day dharma yudh yatra by Khurana from tomorrow
New Delhi, Oct 13: Demanding that Yamuna river bank near ISBT and Nigambodh Ghat be declared an area of historical religious importance, former Delhi chief minister Madan Lal Khurana today said his three-day 'dharma yudh yatra', beginning tomorrow, would mobilise public opinion against demolishing temples and gurudwaras which were hundreds of years old.
Addressing mediapersons along with SGPC office bearers, Mr Khurana said he was meeting Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy tomorrow to sort out the issue and convince him against the proposed move.
''The 'yatra' would begin from Fatehpuri Masjid in Chandni Chowk and pass through Gurudwara Sheeshganj, Gaurishankar temple and the Old Delhi Railway Station church to express solidarity with all religions over the demolitions.'' The 'yatra' would be a token one to symbolise our concern over religious demolitions, he said.
''In my meeting with Mr Reddy I will ask him what does he propose to do with the razing of temples and gurudwaras on the banks of Yamuna which were tugged to people's emotions, besides the issue of sealing, especially after October 31.'' After meeting the minister and getting his response our further course of action will be decided, he said.
Criticising the Delhi government's apathy towards Delhi citizens over Dengue outbreak in the Capital, Mr Khurana said he was organising a blood donation camp on October 15 at Kirti Nagar.
''This blood would be donated to hospitals to overcome the shortage in the wake of the epidemic.''
