Swami Ramdev invited to social activists UN conf

Hardwar, Oct 13: Yoga Guru Swami Ram Dev has been invited by the UN Secretary-General, Kofit Annan to a conference of social activists of 140 nations at the UN headquarters in New York on October 15 and 16.

The Yoga Guru told the UNI that he had been invited by the U N Secretary-General to represent India in the millennium campaign to achieve development goals envisaged by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) by creating awareness to achieve these goals.

Ram Dev further said that in his lecture at the U.N. he would particularly emphasize on the role of yoga, ayurveda&meditation in improving the quality of life.

Ram Dev is the first Yoga Guru to be invited by the U.N. to participate in its leading campaigns.

Millions of people all over the world will take part on these days in a stand up campaign to reaffirm their commitment made by the heads of 189 states in the U.N. general assembly in 2000 for eradication of poverty, hunger, diseases, gender inequality&illiteracy by 2015.
