Railway Minister, wife injured in AP accident

Mahaboobnagar, Andhra Pradesh, Oct 13 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Railways R Velu and his wife were injured when the car in which they were travelling was hit by a van near Vatavarlapally Village of Amrabad Mandal in this District today.

Police said the couple was proceeding to Hyderabad from Srisailam when the mishap occurred. The minister, who suffered injury on his hand, was admitted to a hospital in Achampet.

Immediately after first aid, Mr Velu and his wife were shifted to Hyderabad where they were undergoing treatment at the Railway Hospital.

Mr Velu's condition was reported to be stable.

The Minister was supposed to attend the Ruby Jubilee Celebrations of South Central Railway(SCR) tomorrow in which the Railway Minister Lalu Prasad was scheduled to take part.
