Punjab defeats Jammu and Kashmir in U-22 cricket
Patiala, Oct 13 (UNI) Punjab defeated Jammu and Kashmir in the Inter-State (Under-22) cricket on the first day of the three-day tie at the Dhruv Pandove Cricket Stadium here.
Jammu and Kashmir team won the toss and elected to bat first, but were bundled out for a meagre 138 in 43 overs. Rohit Bhatt (24) and Asif Rasool (34) were the only batsmen who played with some confidence.
For Punjab, Varun Sharma bagged three wickets, giving away 11 runs, while Hardevinder Singh and Tarun Sharma took two wickets each, conceding 57 and 26 runs respectively.
In reply, Punjab team scored 167 for three at close. Munish Bhatia with 38 (8 fours), Harkishen Mandora with 33 (4 fours) played beautiful knocks. At close, Gaurav Gupta with 31 (4 fours) and Uday Kaul with 24 (2 fours) were at the crease.
Adil Miger took two wickets and gave 47 runs, while Sameer Ali took one wicket after giving 32 runs.
