Paddy arrival in Haryana crosses 15 lakh tonnes
Chandigarh, Oct 13 (UNI) The paddy arrival in the mandis of Haryana has already crossed 15 lakh tonnes as against ten lakh tonnes during the same period last year.
This shows an increase of about 50 per cent over the corresponding period last year, Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said today.
Mr Chander Mohan said out of the total arrival, 11.11 lakh tonnes of paddy had been procured by the six government procuring agencies which was 81 per cent of the total procurement.
Besides, 4.77 lakh tonnes had been procured by Hafed, 3.64 lakh metric by Food and Supplies Department, 1.35 lakh tonnes by Haryana Agro Industries Corporation, 79,084 tonnes by Confed, 49,239 tonnes by Haryana Warehousing Corporation and 5829 tonnes by the Food Corporation of India.
He said Kurukshetra district was leading in the state in paddy arrival with 4.01 lakh tonnes followed by Karnal with 3.10 lakh tonnes, Fatehabad 2.68 lakh tonnes and Kaithal with 2.12 lakh tonnes, Ambala with 74,914 tonnes.
