One more chance for athletes to book Asiad berth

New Delhi, Oct 13 (UNI) Athletes will get another chance to reach the qualifying standards for the Doha Asian Games in the inaugural National Athletics Circuit which will take place in NIS, Patiala on October 23.

Competition will be held in 17 events, nine for men and eight for women, in the meet.

Men athletes will compete in 100m, 200m, 400m, 400m hurdles, shot put, javelin, triple jump, pole vault and 4x100m relay.

Women athletes will take part in 100m, 200m, 400m, 40m hurdles, discus throw, pole vault and 4x100m relay.

''This Circuit is planned to provide athletes with one more championship before the final trials for the Senior Inter-State Athletics Championship in Chennai and also an opportunity to reach the qualifying standards for the Doha Asian Games,'' Athletics Federation of India secretary Lalit Bhanot said in a statement here today.
