Nepal school beats Tripura boys in final, defends Subroto Cup title
New Delhi, Oct 13 (UNI) Defending champion Nobel Academy, Kathmandu proved much superior to the boys from Tripura Sports High School and the Nepal team blanked their Indian rivals 5-0 in the final to lift their second successive junior title here today.
In a one-sided match, Chetan Ghimire (3rd, 50th minutes), Bharat Kawas (11th), Niranjan Malla (40th) and Roshan Karki (52nd) scored for the winners.
The boys from Nepal, along with the winners' trophy, also pocketed Rs 50,000, while the Tripura school got Rs 30,000. The losers, however, had some consolation with Manindra Jamatia being named as the most promising player of the tournament.
Hmar Venj High School, Kolasib, Mizoram won the Fairplay Trophy, while James Lalchmingsanga of the same school was adjudged best player of the tournament, for which he won a scooter.
