Madhepura DM taken into police custody

Patna, Oct 13 (UNI) District Magistrate of Madhepura Hemchandra Jha was caught in the state Vigilance Bureau's dragnet today and taken into custody from Malsalami police station here.

State Additional DGP (Vigilance) Nilmani said an amount of Rs 1.90 lakh was recovered from the possession of Mr Jha, who was coming to Patna from Madhepura carrying the cash.

Mr Jha had collected the whopping sum by way of accepting bribes, Mr Nilmani informed.

Raids were on at his private residence in Rajivnagar locality here, he stated.

Mr Jha was being taken to Vigilance headquarters for interrogation.
