Husband kills wife for giving birth to a girl child

Haridwar, Oct 13 (UNI) A dalit woman was allegedly killed by her husband because she gave birth to a daughter for the third time.

Mangaram, a resident of the village Santershah Bahadarpur murdered allegedly his wife Naurti on Wednesday night because she bore him a third daughter.

The mother of the deceased, Prem Lata lodged a complaint against her son-in-law with the chairperson of the State Women Commission, Dr Santosh Chauhan at her camp office, Hardwar this afternoon.

She said that the police had not registered an FIR against the accused and was trying to shield the culprit.

Dr Chauhan visited the village with her team this afternoon to look into the case and told the reporters here that the villagers had told the team of the commisssion that Naurti was killed by her husband.

Condemning the attitude of the police in the case , the chairperson of the women commission directed the SSP to register an FIR and arrest the accused at the earliest.
