HC permits Abhishek Kasliwal to visit China
Mumbai, Oct 13 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today allowed Abhishek Kasliwal, who stands accused of raping a 52-year old woman, to visit China for business purposes.
Justice S C Dharmadhikari while granting permission, took an undertaking from Abhishek, son of the owner of Shri Ram Mills here, stating that he will not abscond. The court also directed him to return by October 30 and surrender his passport to the investigating officer.
The court permitted Abhishek to visit Canton, Shanghai and Hong Kong between October 17 and 30.
Additional public prosecutor Rajashree Gadhvi opposed Abhishek Kasliwal's application, contending that the trial had still not begun and granting permission for leaving the country at this stage, could lead to complications. Also, while granting him bail, Justice V M Kanade had imposed stringent conditions, not allowing him entry into Mumbai.
Kasliwal also has to visit the police station at Delhi, where he is currently residing, from time to time.
Defence counsel Ashok Mundargi told the court that Kasliwal was a consultant with Sri Ram Mills. Currently there was a business fair at Canton in China from October 11 to 30 in which dealers of house-appliances from across the world would be gathering, and it was essential for him to be present there.
Advocate Mundargi assured the court that his client would visit China on or after October 17 and would return on October 30.
