Gujarat launches Travel-n-Tourism portal

Ahmedabad, Oct 13: Gujarat's first online-booking Travel-n-Tourism portal, intended at providing one-stop travel and tour solution for national and internatinal business or leisure travellers, was launched today.

The ''reachgujarat.com'' can be reached either through internet or Mobile Media for APNU GUJARAT in association with Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited, says Ms Ruzan Khambatta, chairperson and Managing Director of reachgujarat.com.

Addressing a press conference here, Ms Khambatta said the portal would provide real time 24x7 centralised reservations for airlines, hotels, railway, buses, tour packages and car rentals in Gujarat across the world through mobile or 24x7 call centre or internet with payment gateway or M Commerce.

The portal provides exhaustive information on Gujarati culture, exotic travel and shopping destinations in Gujarat and other travel related information.

''Globally, for travel and tourism, people spend more money online than offline and reachgujarat.com is a dynamic answer of the Gujarat tourism and travel industry to this paradigm shift,'' Ms Khambhatta said.

This portal would open up new and exciting opportunities for stake holders in the Gujarat travel and tourism industry and also prove beneficial to tourists wanting to visit Gujarat, Ms Khambhatta said.

State principal secretary (Tourism) R M Patel, present on the occasion, said, ''Gujarat tourism is on the threshold of a huge success in terms of tourist arrivals and, so, online booking is the need of the hour.'' Commenting on TCGL association with reachgujarat.com, TCGL Managing Director P D Vaghela said, ''It is a great beginning which will further add to tourism growth in Gujarat. It will provide an opportunity to hoteliers, travel agents and retail establishments to reach out to the global tourist.''
