Diverse views in Cong, other parties on delimitation: Singhvi
New Delhi, Oct 13 (UNI) The Congress today said it was yet to take a decision on the ongoing delimitation of Lok Sabha and assembly constituencies because of the divergent views within the party.
''A whole range of diverse factors has to be discussed and a holistic decision taken,'' Congress spokesman Abishek Singh told reporters.
Replying to related questions, he said the Congress was not the only party which was struggling to come out with its stand as others were also in a similar predicament as the issue was very complex.
The delimitation exercise is aimed at redrawing the constituencies without increasing the total strength of members in order to ensure that each seat represented almost a similar number of voters. At present, the voters in the Lok Sabha constituencies varied widely. For example, the Outer Delhi constituency had over 1.5 million voters, while the Chandni Chowk seat represented barely six lakh voters.
