Chair for archaeology in Barkatullah University: Arjun

Bhopal, Oct 13 (UNI) Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Arjun Singh today announced setting up of a chair for the study of archaeology and MUSEOLOGY in Barkatullah University here.

Mr Singh was releasing late historian Bipin Ghosal's book 'Sanchi Re-discovered: A journey through time' on the Buddhist Stupas in Sanchi here today. The programme was chaired by Madhya Pradesh Archbishop Pascal Topno.

Highlighting the effect of Buddhist religion on India and the archaeological importance of Buddhist stupas, Mr Singh lauded the effort of the late historian's grand daughter Sushila Ghosal for bringing up the book.

Archaeological Survey of India (Bhopal Circle) Superintendent, K K Mohammed urged the Union HRD Minister to start an oath-taking programme for protection of monuments of archaeological importance.

A similar programme was organised in the state last year.
