Airport security regulations baffles passengers
Dubai, Oct 13: Air India passengers continue to be confused by the security regulations from Gulf countries to Indian destinations.
Those who bought tickets in Bahrain and flying through Dubai face 'clean up' at the secondary security check when all liquid materials, including those bought at the duty free, are removed before boarding.
Dubai-Bangalore AI 770 flight, which is popular with people from Bahrain as passengers can catch the afternoon direct aircraft to Bangalore, is targeted by overzealous security officials who deprive the passengers of their purchases of liquids including perfumes.
Some passengers called Bahrain Tribune to complain that there had been no warning at check-in and many of them were forced to part with thousands of dinars/dirham worth of gifts before entering the plane.
Where these goods go are not clear as the passengers are not allowed to take the purchases out for safekeeping once the security checks are completed.
The rules on liquids have supposedly been lifted but that did not seem to have been implemented on certain lights although Indian, formerly Indian Airlines, allow these to be taken on board.
