AIR India beat Sikkim Sports Academy 2-1 in Gold Cup

Gangtok, Oct 13 (UNI) Air India Mumbai beat local favourite Sikkim Sports Academy 2-1 in a quarterfinal league match of the 28th All India Governors Gold Cup here today.

AIR India led the first half 2-0 with its superb power play with Ashir M Abass and Zaheer Abbas scoring a goal each.

Ashir scored the first goal in 30 minute and six minutes later, Zaheer Abbass increased the score to 2-0 when he netted the ball through a powerful blast after fed by Vijith Seth.

After the breather, the SSA boys were seemed to have been a bit more offensive and made repeated attacks on AIR India to level the score.

The lady luck smiled on them in the 67 minute when Sanju Pradhan floated shot that found the net but that was not enough in the end.
