Aid to Bundelkhand farmers possible on UPs request:Raghuvansh

Patna, Oct 13 (UNI) Union Rural Development Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh today said that central financial assistance to the farmers of Bundelkhand would be given once the Uttar Pradesh government sends a proposal.

Mr Singh told newspersons here that the UP government was 'duty bound' to apprise the Centre of the farmers' conditions in case of any central financial assistance.

To a query regarding suicide by the farmers of Bundelkhand, he said the Centre would send a team for assessment of the situation.

Central assistance would be possible on the basis of the assessment, he added.

Mr Singh further said the farmers of Bundelkhand too would get the benefits similar to those of Vidarbha and Andhra Pradesh but for that the UP government will have to initiate measures.
