10 Haat Bazaar to be set up in Rajasthan
Jaipur, Oct 13 (UNI) The 12th Craft-Ind -2006 exhibition jointly organised by the Udyam Protsahan Sansthan and the Industries department began here.
Speaking on the occasion, Industries minister Narpat Singh Rajvi reiterated the governments commitment to promote small entrepreneurs, artisans and weavers. He said 10 Urban Haat Bazaars were being developed in the state with a view to provide a direct marketing platform to the artisans and craftsmen.
He added a calander for exhibition for the whole year would be prepared for the Haat Bazaar so that the artisans would get market access throughout the year.
Presiding over the function Minister of State for Khadi and Village Industries Chunnilal Dhakad said the cottage industries were the backbone of the rural economy and a large population of the state depend on this sector for livlehood. Besdies, he said it constitutes about 40 per cent of country's exports, playing a vital role in the economy.
He said such exhibition would provide direct market access to the craftsmen.
